Bacteria/Yeast

Microorganisms such as yeast and bacteria represent powerful sources of extracellular vesicles (EVs) due to their robustness, scalability, and extensive use in biotechnology. Both systems enable rapid, low-cost, and highly reproducible EV production through well-established fermentation processes, making them well suited for large-scale applications. Microbial EVs carry diverse and functional cargos, including proteins, lipids, metabolites, and nucleic acids, that can be harnessed for therapeutic delivery, immune modulation, and vaccine development. Importantly, many yeast and bacterial species are generally regarded as safe, and their EVs pose a lower risk of transmitting human pathogens compared with mammalian-derived EVs. In addition, yeast and bacteria are highly amenable to genetic engineering, allowing precise control over EV composition and surface display, which enhances their versatility as customizable platforms for drug delivery, diagnostics, and synthetic biology applications. Their features equipped through the functional molecules can further be utilized in cosmeceuticals with plethora of beneficial effects.

If you intend to discover the merits of microbial EVs for your therapeutic, cosmetic, or nutraceutical projects in a deeper way, we are here to assist you with our versatile workflow applicable to bacteria and fungi species. While we have access to a number of different strains that might suit your needs, we can also customize our services with your cultures.
